Morning or evening planning: which works?

What changes when you plan the night before, and who it suits.

Some people plan at dawn, others the night before. Neither is better. Here is how to pick the one that fits you.

Planning in the morning

You see the day with fresh information, such as new messages and the weather of your mood. It works best if you wake up clear and want flexibility.

Planning the night before

You close the day by writing tomorrow’s plan, which lets your head switch off. You also start the next morning with zero decisions to make.

How to choose

Try each for one week and notice which day started with less friction.

  • Anxious at night? Plan in the evening
  • Plans change overnight? Plan in the morning
  • Not sure? Do a quick evening draft and a morning check
